Taking Care of an Electric Scooter

Electric scooters are generally very reliable and durable machines. With the correct care problems will rarely ever arise. In the occasion that this event occurs however, identifying what is wrong with your scooter should not be a dreadfully complicated task. The majority of problems encountered by owners of electric scooters revolve around the battery, so a wise thing to do first is check the battery. Lead acid batteries operate most electric scooters and, as a result of neglect, this battery can experience leakage. This is probably the worst type of problem that can arise as a leaking battery cannot be charged and is hence, useless. Attempts to charge the damaged battery will lead to melting of either the battery or the charger and is very dangerous. To avoid this battery degradation it is advised that the battery be charged after every usage of the electric scooter or at least on a regular basis.

Any other problem that may occur is likely to be a minor problem and if you are confident in your skills as a mechanic you should have no trouble fixing the problem yourself. However if you are less than equipped with mechanic skills or simply feel that you do not possess the knowledge about scooters required to identify and fix the problem or if you would simply rather not fix the problem yourself, there are many scooter repair stores available to you. In the occasion that there is no mechanic in your area however, you can ship your scooter to a mechanic via courier or you can simply bring the scooter to the garage yourself. If there is one in your area you have a number of options again. You can bring your scooter to the garage or you can request for the mechanic to come to your household and fix it on the spot. Most mechanics will make house calls for a small fee.

Time Is Money

Want to grow your automotive service department by $18K - $35K per month? Who doesn’t? The question is, “How do I make that happen?” The answer is, by improving your productivity. It’s all about work, space and time, and as you know, that equates to money.

There are at least three key areas that restrict the ability of service departments to operate at full performance. These key areas have major financial consequences and a negative impact on customers as well as employees.

Here’s a quick look at the key problem areas our automotive clients have identified and the impact these problem areas can have on your dealership:

* Scheduling too many people at the same time
* Too many “waiters” scheduled for a specific day
* Too much, or too little work for the technicians that are scheduled

You can improve your automotive service productivity by solving the three key problem areas listed above using an automated system. The benefits of using such a system are:

* Increased sales opportunities
* On-time service that has a positive impact on customer satisfaction
* Increased profits each month

Dealerships usually don’t achieve their full potential from a financial perspective because it’s too difficult to manage their service department’s productivity efficiently. Here are the “critical numbers” that service managers, advisers, and technicians need to know in order to reach maximum potential in their service department:

* Goal of flat-rate numbers to sell on a given day
* Amount of work currently loaded from appointments and work being carried over
* Hours left to sell throughout the day to reach the shops flat-rate hour goal

The important thing is that you have control over these resources to match preferences to the specific needs of your dealership. It has been demonstrated that you can grow your automotive service business by $18K - $35K within 30 to 40 days by efficiently managing your work, space, and time, which translates into full productivity.

Nissan to Introduce Diesel Powered Maxima

The recent spikes in the price of gasoline have forced car buyers to look for more fuel efficient vehicles which in turn affected car manufacturers. Automakers are now focusing on the development of smaller cars which are considered more fuel efficient than large vehicles such as sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks.

Car manufacturers like the Toyota Motor Corporation, the Honda Motor Corporation and the Ford Motor Company have developed and produced fuel efficient vehicles using the hybrid technology. While hybrid vehicles boast of a good fuel economy, they are priced much higher than conventional gasoline engined vehicles.

While hybrid vehicles are popular in the United States, in the European car market, clean diesel engines are viewed as a better answer to the growing threat of global warming. German car companies such as Mercedes Benz and Audi have been developing and producing clean diesel engines. Following the steps of these European brands is a Japanese brand - Nissan. The car company’s chief executive officer recently announced that they will be offering a clean diesel engined car in the United States in the near future. This is an effort to address the growing demand for fuel efficient vehicles which are also environment friendly.

Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn announced just recently that they will be releasing a diesel powered Maxima in the United States auto market by the year 2010. The announcement made auto industry experts to predict that Nissan will be offering vehicles which closely resemble those made by German car manufacturers such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi.

Aside from the United States, Nissan will also release the diesel Maxima in other countries like Japan and China. Currently, diesel-powered Nissan vehicles with or without Nissan vent visors are made available by the Asian brand in the European car market.

In developing a clean diesel engine for future vehicles to be released in the global market, Nissan is expected to solicit the help of its partner, the French car manufacturer Renault. The development and subsequent release of clean diesel engines by Nissan is a step towards meeting stricter emission standards that will take effect in the near future. These technologically advanced diesel engines are also considered to be Nissan’s effort to protect the environment amidst growing concerns about the threat of global warming.

“Nissan is fully engaged in reducing emissions and improving fuel economy and efficiency. Launching a clean diesel engine in the U.S. will offer customers the benefits of fuel economy, CO2 reduction and a satisfying, fun-to-drive performance that is a hallmark of the Nissan brand,” says Nissan and Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn. “You can expect to see more diesel engines in our product lineup in Europe, Japan, North America and China by fiscal year 2010,” added Ghosn.

In Europe, diesel engines are increasingly becoming popular. That is why Nissan is currently offering the said engine in that region. New technologies made these diesel engines perform better and produce less greenhouse gases. In the United States, diesel engines have received a bad reputation in the past decades which makes them not as popular as gas electric hybrid vehicles which seems to be the current trend in the industry.

Last year, Nissan revealed their “Green Program” which focuses on the reduction of greenhouse gas emission. This is one of the major steps being taken by the Asian brand to support the effort of the United States government and a large portion of its citizens to become energy independent.

Ford, Nissan, Toyota Vehicle Quality Are Alike

One of the major attributes of cars looked at by car buyers is their dependability. That is why car manufacturers are always looking for ways to improve their vehicle’s reliability. A typical car usually shows its weaknesses and become prone to breakdowns when it has reached a certain number of years in use. But car manufacturers count on the reliability of their vehicles during the early stage of ownership.

A reputation of a brand is at stake during this stage and this would be if a vehicle exhibits poor quality during the early stages of ownership, it will of course give the vehicle’s manufacturer a bad reputation. Some of the most dependable brands are Lexus and Honda while Ford, Toyota, and Nissan are not left far behind.

In a recent study conducted by the RDA Group, it has been found out that the quality of Ford’s vehicles is equal to that of Nissan and Toyota vehicles. The said study was conducted for the Ford Motor Company. It is conducted to give consumers an idea which brand offers the best dependability. Aside from the fact that Ford has equaled Asian brands in terms of dependability, the study also found out that Honda is the most dependable auto brand. This gives the Japanese brand a boost in its reputation as the car company surge forward to increase their brand’s popularity in the United States auto market.

During the study, the research firm interviewed 31,000 owners of new vehicles. These respondents are asked to list the problems they have met with their new vehicles in the first three months of ownership. The study is only concerned about vehicles released for the 2007 model year. Cars and trucks from major automobile brands are considered for the study.

Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury brands collectively are rated almost equal to Nissan and Toyota brands. The study reported that for the Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury brands, there are 1,456 problems encountered per 1,000 vehicles checked. For Nissan, the dependability of their vehicles and parts such as their Nissan water pump is rated lower than Ford but almost equal to the U.S. brand.

For every 1,000 Nissan vehicles, the study found out that there are 1,456 problems encountered. For Toyota, the study reported that there are 1,453 problems encountered every 1,000 new vehicles. Meanwhile, Honda was found out as the most dependable car brand when new Honda owners reported 1,313 problems met for every 1,000 vehicles.

For Ford, this study will surely give their reputation a boost. After the recalls of their Escape and the F-Series Super Duty truck, Ford needs to improve their image with regards to dependability. Indeed, Ford is becoming a serious competition for Asian brands in terms of quality. In the midsize car class, the study found out that there are less problems encountered in the Ford Fusion than the Honda Accord or the Toyota Camry. The most dependable vehicle in Ford’s stable is the Mercury Milan with only 910 problems met per 1,000 vehicles.

Energy Fuel Saver - Where did my carbuetor go?

The carburetor is part of the engine that blends air and fuel for internal combustion engines which is a great fuel saver. The carburetor had jets and metering rods allowing adjustments for tuning the engine and getting the best fuel savings. They are still used today but mostly on motors other then automobile. Like motorcycles, airplanes, lawnmowers, tractors, weed eaters, jet skis, snow blowers and boat motors and older cars. The sidedraft carbs replaced the downdraft one because of engine design and operation.

The carburetor was invented by Donat Banki and Janos Csonka in 1893 and was improved over the years and then finally replaced sometime at the end of the 1970s with fuel injection. There were several types of carburetors, there were one barrels, then 2 and 4 barrel carbs. Some hotrods would supped up to 3 two barrel carbs and some with 2 four barrel carburetors. There were different carburetors made for different uses like some were up drafted, some the air entered below the carburetor and exits thorough the top, which kept the automobile from flooding, and increasing fuel savings.

Carburetors were used in the past on cars and trucks, but were replaced with fuel ejection systems. This, in my option, was a big mistake and a scam on the population. The carburetor was much more fuel efficient then today’s fuel injection systems. Almost anyone could repair or replace a carburetor, but today it takes a trained Tec. to change a fuel ejection system at great expense to the owner. Also anyone could adjust the fuel mixture on a carburetor making the engine run lean saving fuel.

There were many claims of getting anywhere between 40 and 100 miles to the gallon with some of these carburetors, so it was not advantageous for the big oil companies which in those days encouraged people to use more fuel. If you are my age you will remember all those commercials about putting a tiger in you tank. Today it is put every thing you earned this week in your tank. You notice they don’t have to spend all those advertising dollars anymore to sell you fuel. They are saving millions on advertising and more millions from the outrageous prices they are charging at the pumps.

Fuel mileage never increased to the better after switching to fuel ejectors from the carburetor either. My small pickup truck still only gets 15 miles to the gallon and is a six cylinder. I had a 48 ford pickup truck with a flat head 8 cylinder engine that got just as good mileage. I sold that truck with over 100,000 miles on it and it still ran great.

The cost for a fuel ejection system is much more expensive then a carburetor and adds a lot more cost to the price of an automobile. Even if fuel injection saved fuel the money you are suppose to have saved in fuel savings is lost on the cost of the vehicle. The end result is no monetary savings for the consumer at all. So let us give them the benefit of the doubt and say that fuel injection is a fuel saver but the cost of the system is still too high compared to the carburetor. So how else can we save fuel?

There are products out there that are good fuel savers like Ultimate-me2, which can be found at http://www.ecosavesfuel.com. This product allows you to save at least 13% or more on the total cost of gasoline and diesel fuel by adding a small amount to your fuel system. There are many other benefits from these types of products that save fuel. They clean your engine while giving you more horsepower, and because the fuel burns more efficient it reduces the emission going into or air giving us a cleaner environment.

It is my belief that had auto companies kept the carburetor system in place that we would see a lot more fuel savings with these new additives that are on the market today. You may ask on what is my option based. Well let me say that I am using Ultimate-me2 in my lawn mower and am getting a 50% increase of use with a gallon of fuel with the lawn mower using a carburetor. The bottom line is the carburetor was and still is a great energy fuel saver.
