Car Rental Insurance

posted in Car Rental |

Chances are that if you have ever rented a car before that you were asked if you wanted auto insurance. At the same time, you were probably pretty confused when this happened. So in order to avoid this problem down the line you should learn a bit about how this works. Believe it or not, there are many fine details that go into car rental auto insurance. If you do not know what you are getting, you may not get the coverage you need, or you may end up paying more money than you have to.

By law, you only have to take out liability insurance when renting a car. At most car rental companies this will cost you anywhere from $10 to $15 per day. This is a small price to pay in order to make sure that you have the minimum coverage that you need. But just because you can get minimum coverage for a relatively low price does not mean that there are no other options available.

Other rental insurance coverage’s are meant to protect any passengers that you may be traveling with, or the rental car itself. Again, these rates will vary based on the company you are dealing with, but you should expect to pay about $25 per day if you want to add this type of coverage.

As mentioned above, you are required to have liability insurance by law. With this type of insurance you will be covered for any injuries that you cause to another person in an auto accident.
