Rental Trucks - Help You Move!

If you are planning to shift to a new place, be it across the state or to a new country, you obviously would want to take all the pieces of furniture and stuff you had collected, which you hold special to you, instead of selling them off and buying new ones. Well then what better way to do that than to rent a truck! You can decide on the size of the truck depending on how much stuff you have.

Make enquiries about truck rental companies:

Finding a good rental company may be difficult, as there are so many these days. Here are some points that one should keep in mind while renting a truck:

• See if the rental company has branches in the same city you are moving to. This way you will only have to pay for a one way move. Many companies do accommodate that, but they ask for upfront payment, so this way you end up paying the company for the return journey as well. You may not be aware of this, as you may assume that you are paying extra for the service charge incase they do not have a branch there. Make enquiries before you book.

• It is always advisable to book the truck well in advance once you have decided on the rental company. Sometimes you may not get the truck on the day you want, especially during the peak season. So always call in advance to reserve a truck for yourself, preferably a week or two in advance.

• Make enquiries about the rental charges in different rental companies to find out which price suits you best. Some companies may also charge more for new and well maintained trucks, than they do for old trucks. You have to decide based on that, which one you want. Some truck rentals may also offer special services as compared to other companies. Find out the distance to be traveled, as they may charge according to distance, and for every extra mile you travel, you may be charged extra.

• The size of the truck will be based on the number of rooms to be moved. Generally, a 26 foot truck will accommodate a 4–plus bedroom house, and a cargo van or trailer can be used for shifting small offices. It is always better to book a larger truck, this way you can be sure all the goods will fit in.

• The rental companies may also offer optional insurance plans such as cargo insurance, accident insurance, and loss and damage insurance. Find out about all the coverage from all different companies, and then decide which one you think is best for you. Make sure that you call your credit card companies before signing the agreement.

Go for it!

Rental trucks are convenient, and the good part is you do not even have to shell out a lot of money for your shifting. They are a cost effective way to move your stuff to your new place. It’s as simple as renting a car to move about the city - you just have to decide on the rental company, and rent their truck to transport your belongings. The rental cost all depends on the size of the truck and the distance to be traveled. Some of the rental companies even have major branches in all the different cities, thus saving you money by just paying for the one way truck rental.

5 Tips to Getting a Truck Rental

If you are moving across the country or just across town, using a truck rental may be an option that you have looked in to. Renting a truck to move with can solve so many problems before they even occur, weather and theft are just two of the pitfalls of moving. However, there are a few things to consider before you visit the rental company.

1- First and foremost, you need to figure out how much space you will need. A loose general rule is that a typical room of household furnishings will require approximately five feet of cargo space inside the truck. Your personal needs will vary depending on how much stuff you actually own, as compared to the normal household.

2- Once you know the approximate size of the truck you will need, you can then start to call rental companies to inquire about the sizes they have available for you. Some of the most common sizes that may need to be reserved early are the cargo van and the small cargo trucks.

3- When you are ready to reserve the truck, it is best to avoid the busy times, thus allowing yourself the widest range of vehicles and options to choose from. Try to avoid the end and the beginning of a month, most leases end and start at these times; avoiding them will help ensure that the vehicle you want will be there for you.

4- Check your personal insurance policy to ensure that you will be covered for a truck rental; many auto policies do not include this. If yours excludes this type of rental, it is a wise idea to accept the insurance that is offered by the rental company.

5- Finally, before you pull out of the parking lot after renting the truck, ask if there are directions available for the use of the vehicle. If there are, be sure to read them. If possible, try to get someone from the rental company to personally show you anything that you will need to know to complete your trip safely

7 Things to Know Before Renting a One Way Truck

If you are about to buy a house that is a long distance away, you may have wondered the best way to get all of your stuff there. One of the best ways is to use one way truck rentals, this will allow you to rent a truck where you live, load it up and drive to where you are moving to. You then return the truck to the branch of the rental company that is closest to the new house.

1- Call around to rental companies that deal in truck rentals. You will need to know if they have any one way truck rentals available for the dates and destinations that you will require them. Be sure to ask about prices, mileage limits and costs and any extra fees associated with renting a one way vehicle.

2- The next step that needs to be completed before you can actually start moving your belongings is to figure out how much truck space you will actually need. You do not want to be caught in a situation where you don’t have enough room on the truck for everything you want to take with you. However, you don’t want too much space; this will cost more and allow your possessions to be damaged during transport. To decide on the size truck you will need, ask the rental company for their advice, they will have formulas that determine the size truck needed for the job.

3- Before you rent the truck, be sure to check it out for quality. Most rental companies pride themselves on having dependable transportation for rent; however, it will be in your best interest to check things like the door latches, locks and tires. This could only save you headaches later down the road.

4- Call your insurance agent to inquire whether your personal auto policy covers the use of rental trucks and vans for this purpose. While most insurance companies will cover the use of a rental car, most don’t normally cover the use of a delivery vehicle. If your policy does not cover the rental truck, you will need to purchase the insurance policy that is offered by the rental company.

5- Given your need for the use of a one way truck rental, it is wise to ask about drop off destinations that are closest to where you will be arriving. Ask about pick up service for the truck, if this is available in the area you will be moving to, it could save you valuable time upon your arrival.

6- If you are moving at the end or at the beginning of a month, be sure to reserve your truck well in advance of the actual moving date. These times are the busiest for rental companies and if you wait to request a truck, they may not have any available for you.

7- Most rental companies will require that you reserve your vehicle with a credit or debit card. They will also, most likely require that you be at least 25 years old to rent a truck. If either of these items will be an issue for you, you will need to have an older relative or friend rent the truck for you.

7 Tips to the Best Moving Truck Rental Experience

Whether you are moving across the country or just across town, it might be wise to consider a moving truck rental to get your belongings from place to place. Renting a moving truck can prove to be quit cost effective when compared to multiple trips back and forth with a vehicle you already own.

1- Shop around and inquire about prices and specials as well as other options that may be offered to you when you rent a moving truck. Look for a company that has high standards for their trucks as well as their towing equipment, this may be more expensive, but worth it in the long run. Ask if the company offers unlimited mileage, if not, find out how much extra miles will cost you.

2- Today’s technology makes it easier than every to reserve a moving truck. It is possible to do almost all of your research and to make reservations either online or over the phone. While this technology can make doing business easier, it is always a wise decision to actually speak with the company that you want to do business with face to face. This will help to avoid any misunderstandings.

3- Before you agree to rent a truck, inspect it. The rental company will have a standard form for you to fill out. While doing the inspection, look for things such as dents, scratches and rust. Be sure to check out the latches and locks on the doors as well. By documenting the items wrong with the truck before you rent it will mean that you won’t be charged for the damage later.

4- While you are in the reservation and renting process, the company will offer you optional insurance to cover the vehicle. There will be a few options available to you when renting a moving truck, these could include accident insurance, limited loss and damage waivers and cargo insurance. It’s always a good idea to speak with your auto insurance carrier to see if you already have these overages. If you don’t, it could be a wise idea to buy them from the rental company, especially if you are traveling very long distances.

5- At the time of rental, you will need to show certain personal documents. These will include a driver’s license, your personal proof of insurance and a major credit card. These documents are needed to prove that you are of legal age to rent the truck (usually 25), that you have personal auto accident insurance available, and that they can secure payment from you.

6- Depending upon the size of the moving truck rental, you need and where you are traveling, you may need to stop at weigh stations along the way. It’s best to ask the rental company if they have any knowledge of the truck being big enough for this requirement. Also, call the state police in all the states you will be traveling through to get the specific requirements for each state.

7- Lastly, before you drive off the rental lot with your moving truck, you will need to get copies of all of the important documents from the rental company. These could include the rental agreement, a driver trip report, a truck inspection sheet and any other paperwork that the rental company suggests. Check to be sure that the proof of insurance and the registration are also in the truck.

Mobile Car Washing and Truck Washing for Rental Agencies

If you own a mobile car washing or truck washing company and are considering your sales goals for the year you may wish to check into rental agencies as potential new clientele. Why you ask? Well because rental agencies do pay their bills on time and they have unending amounts of things, which need cleaning all the time.

To find potential customers, get a clip board and then go to the phone book and look up car rental agencies and truck rentals and start making a list and then go online to those companies websites and do a little historical research before going in to make the sale. It helps to know the history of the company before attempting to get them as a client. Let’s take an example such as doing business with Budget Rent-a-Car or Rent-a-Truck. You see, Budget Group Inc. is a huge rental company with revenues in 2000 of nearly 2.5 billion. Budget Group is part of Ryder TRS.

They work in about 120 countries and have about 3200 rental locations. Budget was formed in 1958. Ryder has been renting trucks since 1942 and now has over 3300 locations of truck rentals. They have two-way and one-way rentals like U-Haul. Budget Rent-A-Car was acquired by Ford in 1997 and in 1998 Budget bought the rental fleet of Ryder TRS. Different from Ryder Leasing, but still connected with multi-use locations and synergy driven businesses.

Budget has 500 franchised offices, which are owned and operated by 200 independent franchisees. Budget’s current president was also once a franchisee for Budget’s Truck Rental Business. Budget Car Sales Division are also franchised. Budget dealers sell fleet vehicles new and used, leases, special purchase vehicles and their former rental cars. Some Budget lots are huge but most are around 60-100 vehicles, but they can order anything you want
