How to Grow your Trucking Company

Running a successful trucking company requires three things.

1. Finding truck loads of freight
2. Moving the truck load from point A to point B
3. Managing all the little details so that 1 and 2 happen successfully

Sounds easy, doesn’t it? However, most trucking companies fail because of the little details that go wrong. Repairs are missed, so trucks stop working. Drivers are not paid on time, so the drivers quit. Fuel is not paid for, so the trucks stop moving freight. Although the problems may look entirely unrelated, they are connected. They all indicate that there are cash flow problems. What is worse, your company may be doing great and invoicing a lot, and still have cash flow problems. That is why most owners don’t find out about the problems until it is too late.

Trucking companies need money to keep running. Actually, they need more money than traditional companies. Money to pay drivers. To pay for fuel and repairs. To run their business. In the transportation industry, you surely need to spend money to make money. Otherwise, try hauling a load in a truck that does not have fuel….or a paid driver.

The biggest cash flow challenge that trucking company owners have is waiting up to 60 days to get paid for their freight bills. Slow paying clients can limit your cash flow and potentially drive you out of business.

Fortunately, trucking companies have a great financing option that is easy to qualify for. It is called freight bill factoring. Freight bill factoring provides you with immediate money for your freight bills and eliminates having to wait to get paid by your clients. It provides you with the necessary funds to repair your trucks, pay your drivers and keep up with fuel expenses.

Freight bill factoring is really easy to do and set up. And more importantly, once you set it up, it can provide you with ongoing continuous funding. This enables you to turn invoices into cash almost immediately, and use the money to grow your company.

Growing your trucking company does not have to be a financial challenge. Freight bill factoring can help you finance your way to success.

5 Points To Choose A Moving Truck Rental Company

Ok, so the day to finally make the move is rapidly coming closer! But have you got in touch with a relocation truck rental company? Having a truck to move you is of primary importance. But unfortunately most of us are not aware where we can find a decent truck rental company.

Here’s an excellent idea for finding a relocation truck rental outlet - Our saviour, the Internet! Hop online and you can easily hunt for moving truck rental companies and also compare prices. You are bound to find some valuable pricing information about various truck rental services out there! If you do a proper zip-code search, you can even find out if there is a truck rental company near you.

Once you short list few truck rental companies, you need to compare what services they offer. Here are some points that you can consider.

1. Check if they have various sizes of trucks. You should know what sized truck you require before you go to pick it up. Does the company have trucks of the size you want? If you get one that is smaller than what you need, you will end up making extra trips. So, you should go for a truck that is bigger than what you need. This will always be helpful because you will invariably need more space than you initially thought you would need.

2. Compare the prices. See if the truck that you need falls within your budget.

3. There is another often overlooked point that you should consider. Will you be renting just one way, or do you have to pay for the return as well? Many moving truck rental companies offer drop off locations at your destination at a small charge. This is a better option, rather than returning the truck. Inquire if they offer this service. This of course is applicable for intercity rather than interstate relocation.

4. Many moving truck rental companies sell packing boxes for your relocation. So if you decide to rent a van from them, then you can consider getting the packing boxes from them. These boxes are of good quality, easy to handle and can also be recycled.

5. Another service you can inquire about is whether the company drives for you and brings you the truck, rather than you doing that job. This is a great option because you will not have to steer the hefty vehicle!

There are so many things you need to keep track of when you are moving, so you should choose a truck rental that offers as much service as possible. If you go through the above points you will get a reasonably priced, suited-to-your-need truck rental. This would ensure a successful relocation.

Have Your Freight Trailer Hauled By A Trucking Company

When it comes to the trucking industry, most people don’t realize the diversity. You can, in fact, have your own trailer and have it hauled by another trucking company for instance.

Power only trucking is the industry term for providing the tractor to haul another’s trailer. Freight companies that provide power only service are used for a variety of hauling jobs where the customer has a trailer that needs to be moved but is either unable or unwilling to haul the trailer with his own equipment. One of the examples of a time when power only trucking is used is in the delivery of new trailers to a trucking fleet. Power only haulers will haul the trailers to the fleet’s depots, and drop them off there.

Many of the other uses for power only hauling involve trailers that are used for set purposes and are usually designed to remain in one location for a long period of time. Equipment trailers and job site trailers are two examples of this type. Since the trailer is liable to remain at the job site for an extended time, the company that owns the trailers often foregoes the purchase of their own tractors and relies on the services of power only haulers to move the trailer from site to site.

An exhibit trailer is another example. The same criteria apply here as the exhibit will often be moved to a site and the exhibit will be set up and remain in place for an indefinite period of time. Once again, the cost of purchasing a tractor and hiring a driver to move the exhibit into place, and then remaining idle would be excessive. The power only hauler can deliver the trailer to its new location, and then go on to other work, returning when the exhibit is ready to be moved again.

Disaster relief organizations use ready packed trailers in the same manner. The trailers are loaded with emergency supplies and stand ready to respond to a disaster site. The cost of maintaining tractors and drivers who would be idle until a disaster strikes would be prohibitive. The relief organization, instead, hires power only haulers to transport the trailers to where they are needed, when they are needed.

Power only haulers usually have special tractors equipped with sliding 5th wheels that can easily be adapted to any trailer configuration and turning clearance. Many power only haulers do not restrict their business to this form of trucking, but use their drivers and rigs for routine hauling jobs while maintaining a reserve of drivers to take on ower only jobs when they are needed.

Hertz Truck Rental The Best Truck Rental Company I Know Of

Yes, I’d like to advertise this company. It has never let me down. Hertz truck rental company, with 24′ trucks as well as 15′ and 20′ ones, reasonable prices and 24/7 assistance in case of an accident or a truck breakdown, offers quite a lot of business opportunities.

How can I find Hertz truck rental website?

Finding them on the Net is very easy. Simply type www.hertztruck.com and you’re at their website. Navigation might be a little difficult at first, as you will probably spend a few minutes looking for a sub page where you will be able to actually rent the truck you need, but beside this nuisance, the Hertz truck rental website offers you all necessary information about their trucks and their rental possibilities.

What are their conditions?

Hertz truck rental conditions are quite similar to their competitors’. Towing, driving off-road, taking seats out of the car etc. is forbidden. Being late or dropping the car in a different location may result in paying the higher fee, but generally Hertz truck rental does not offer anything really unusual. The only difference is that they always keep to their part of the agreement. No last-minute changes and no problems with getting your truck after booking it. At least I’ve never heard of any of such problems at Hertz truck rental.

Is there a catch?

Well, actually there is one. Maybe not even a catch, because they warn you about it. Hertz truck rental has its offices in a lot of countries and sometimes the details of the agreements may vary depending on the country where you sign the agreement. Things that are allowed at one Hertz truck rental office may be banned at another. For example in some countries you have to drive yourself the car you rented, in others you may give the car to someone else. It’s not a problem if you’re renting a truck in US, but if you live in Europe, you have to be careful. It isn’t Hertz truck rental’s fault, so they can do nothing to help you - the agreements has to be prepared according to the local laws.

Does Your Trucking Company Have Cash Flow Issues?

Do you feel that your trucking company is heading straight for a cliff? Do you feel that your trucking company is stuck in neutral? Or worse, do you have lots of slow paying freight bills and not a lot of cash in your business bank account?

Having slow paying clients is one of the worst problems that you can have. Especially when you own a cash hungry trucking company that needs money to pay for drivers, repairs, fuel and equipment. The biggest cash flow issue comes from your slow paying customers that can take up to 60 days to pay your freight bills.

If you are like most owners, your first reaction is to try and get a loan. However, a loan will only cure the temporary problem. What will happen in four months when the loan money has run out? You will be left exactly where you are standing now. Back to square one.

A better solution would be to eliminate the slow payments all together. Note that I did not say that we should eliminate the slow paying clients…..just the payments. What do you think you could do if all your freight bills were paid in two days instead of 30 or 60?

There is a solution that can help you accomplish that. Is called freight bill factoring and is one of the best financing tools for transportation companies. It eliminates the guesswork of having slow paying clients. Freight factoring provides you with immediate funding from the moment that you generate invoices from approved clients.

Factoring provides you with the necessary funding to meet your expenses. But more importantly, it provides you with the necessary funding to capture new opportunities and new contracts so that you can haul more loads and grow your company. With factoring, you no longer need to turn away opportunities just because they may be slow payers.

Qualifying for factoring is usually easy. The main requirement is to have freight bills from good credit worthy clients. Things such as financial statements or personal credit reports are seldom required, making the application process fast, easy and very user friendly.

Factoring is a cost effective solution that can help you drive your freight company to the next level.
