Moving Truck Companies

Moving truck companies are a boon to people who are moving. These companies handle the very difficult task of transporting furniture and other equipment from the old home to the new home.

There are agreements drawn before hiring the services of a moving truck company. These agreements mark liability for loss of equipment. Generally, any loss during transit is the loss of the company and they reimburse it. All the companies that deal with moving homes are insured, and in case of any accidents or other events, the insurance provides coverage to the homeowner.

Moving truck companies handle many aspects of moving. You can use these companies to pack each piece of equipment for you. A staff of employees from the company arrives at your home one day prior to the actual move and packs everything in boxes, big and small. These boxes will be systematically hauled into the truck with forklifts and carried n to the new destination.

There are many things to check when hiring a moving truck company. One of the first is their credentials, how log the company has been in business, and how many trucks they have, how many employees they hire, and what type of insurances they carry. Do not settle for any moving truck company that has no insurances.

Charges on moving services are decided based on the distance between the point of loading and the point of unloading, the time required for travel, the volume of equipment to be moved and the number of employees that e needed to undertake the operation. Charges also differ from state to state.

So, if you are moving your home, one of the most important things to do hire a reliable, professional moving company to do the work for you. You can find a moving company in the yellow pages and on the Internet.

5 Points To Choose A Moving Truck Rental Company

Ok, so the day to finally make the move is rapidly coming closer! But have you got in touch with a relocation truck rental company? Having a truck to move you is of primary importance. But unfortunately most of us are not aware where we can find a decent truck rental company.

Here’s an excellent idea for finding a relocation truck rental outlet - Our saviour, the Internet! Hop online and you can easily hunt for moving truck rental companies and also compare prices. You are bound to find some valuable pricing information about various truck rental services out there! If you do a proper zip-code search, you can even find out if there is a truck rental company near you.

Once you short list few truck rental companies, you need to compare what services they offer. Here are some points that you can consider.

1. Check if they have various sizes of trucks. You should know what sized truck you require before you go to pick it up. Does the company have trucks of the size you want? If you get one that is smaller than what you need, you will end up making extra trips. So, you should go for a truck that is bigger than what you need. This will always be helpful because you will invariably need more space than you initially thought you would need.

2. Compare the prices. See if the truck that you need falls within your budget.

3. There is another often overlooked point that you should consider. Will you be renting just one way, or do you have to pay for the return as well? Many moving truck rental companies offer drop off locations at your destination at a small charge. This is a better option, rather than returning the truck. Inquire if they offer this service. This of course is applicable for intercity rather than interstate relocation.

4. Many moving truck rental companies sell packing boxes for your relocation. So if you decide to rent a van from them, then you can consider getting the packing boxes from them. These boxes are of good quality, easy to handle and can also be recycled.

5. Another service you can inquire about is whether the company drives for you and brings you the truck, rather than you doing that job. This is a great option because you will not have to steer the hefty vehicle!

There are so many things you need to keep track of when you are moving, so you should choose a truck rental that offers as much service as possible. If you go through the above points you will get a reasonably priced, suited-to-your-need truck rental. This would ensure a successful relocation.

Have Your Freight Trailer Hauled By A Trucking Company

When it comes to the trucking industry, most people don’t realize the diversity. You can, in fact, have your own trailer and have it hauled by another trucking company for instance.

Power only trucking is the industry term for providing the tractor to haul another’s trailer. Freight companies that provide power only service are used for a variety of hauling jobs where the customer has a trailer that needs to be moved but is either unable or unwilling to haul the trailer with his own equipment. One of the examples of a time when power only trucking is used is in the delivery of new trailers to a trucking fleet. Power only haulers will haul the trailers to the fleet’s depots, and drop them off there.

Many of the other uses for power only hauling involve trailers that are used for set purposes and are usually designed to remain in one location for a long period of time. Equipment trailers and job site trailers are two examples of this type. Since the trailer is liable to remain at the job site for an extended time, the company that owns the trailers often foregoes the purchase of their own tractors and relies on the services of power only haulers to move the trailer from site to site.

An exhibit trailer is another example. The same criteria apply here as the exhibit will often be moved to a site and the exhibit will be set up and remain in place for an indefinite period of time. Once again, the cost of purchasing a tractor and hiring a driver to move the exhibit into place, and then remaining idle would be excessive. The power only hauler can deliver the trailer to its new location, and then go on to other work, returning when the exhibit is ready to be moved again.

Disaster relief organizations use ready packed trailers in the same manner. The trailers are loaded with emergency supplies and stand ready to respond to a disaster site. The cost of maintaining tractors and drivers who would be idle until a disaster strikes would be prohibitive. The relief organization, instead, hires power only haulers to transport the trailers to where they are needed, when they are needed.

Power only haulers usually have special tractors equipped with sliding 5th wheels that can easily be adapted to any trailer configuration and turning clearance. Many power only haulers do not restrict their business to this form of trucking, but use their drivers and rigs for routine hauling jobs while maintaining a reserve of drivers to take on ower only jobs when they are needed.

Paying For Truck Driving School

Now is one of the best times to get your CDL and pursue a job in the trucking industry. Truck driving is an honorable profession, is a vital part of our economy and it continues to be one of the highest paying careers available without a college degree. There is a high demand for skilled truckers right now. The American Trucking Association estimates that there is an annual shortage of over 20,000 truck drivers and that shortage is rising. This means that people graduating from driving school are almost guaranteed employment with a local or regional trucking company.

One of the main questions people considering a career as a truck driver has is “How am I going to pay for truck driving school?” Driving schools that offer 4 week courses charge on average $4,000 for tuition. This covers the school’s cost to pay for instructors, insurance, trucks, fuel, rent and advertising. There are other costs the students must pay that go toward driver training and obtaining a CDL; these include: driving permits, licenses, copies of your motor vehicle record, DOT physicals and drug screens. It is important to remember that these upfront fees are an investment in your future. Truck drivers can earn an annual wage of $30,000 to $80,000 based on experience. That is a quadruple return on your investment in just the first year.

So what are your options to pay for truck driving school? The first option is to pay for your tuition out of pocket using money from a checking, savings, money market, certificate of deposit or other financial accounts. If $4,000 is not available in a bank account you could consider borrowing the money from a friend or family member. Tuition can also be charged using a credit card, or you can apply for a loan from a bank, credit union or other financial institution.

Another alternative to pay for truck driving school is to apply with a trucking company that offers tuition assistance. Contact the trucking company you’re considering working for and ask their human resource department if they offer a tuition payment program. Some trucking companies will front you the costs for your driver school training and will then have you repay them after you begin employment. Most will deduct a reasonable payment from your checks until the balance is paid off. Other companies may offer tuition reimbursement programs. They’ll pay you back the money you spent on driving school after you’ve been driving for them over a certain amount of time. After reimbursement you’ve essentially received your driver training for free.

If bank loans or company assistance programs aren’t available then discuss payment options with the driving school you’ll be attending. Truck driving school financial advisors have information and resources available to help you apply for private or government funding that is offered to provide grant money for skills training. Some of these programs include the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), vocational rehabilitation (VocRehab), Trade Adjustment Assistance (TRAY/TAA), and the welfare-to-work (WtW) programs. Military veterans have the additional option of applying for funding through the Veterans Administration (VA).

The important thing to remember about paying for truck driver training is that you have options. So don’t wait. Waiting will only cost you more time and money.

Truck Driving Schools

I have received multiple emails asking the question “What is the best truck driving school?” or “Where do you recommend I get truck driver training?” Should you pay out of pocket or sign a contract with a trucking company school for free truck driver training?

I don’t know anyone who can claim to be an expert on truck driving schools or the best method to pay for your truck driving school! The fact is most people have only gone to one trucking school and if for some reason they have gone to more than one I would stay clear of them!

The choice of a trucking company school or a private truck driving school is a personal one and depends on your unique situation. Location, money, time etc. The only comment I really have on paying for a truck driving school would be if you can pay on your own go ahead.

If you are paying out of pocket make sure that the school has job placement with a decent trucking company! Some trucking companies will reimburse you all or part of your tuition depending on how long you drive a truck for them. You will have no commitment to any trucking company and can move on when you feel like it if you pay for your CDL training out of your own pocket. You can judge the quality of a truck driving school by the job placement they provide.

If several large trucking companies recruit from a particular truck driving school graduate pool, that particular trucking school probably trains students well or the big trucking companies would not want to use that truck driving school has a hiring pool. Company trucking schools will usually train you well because you will be working for them and driving their trucks! Make sense?

After you have been driving for a while you will realize that most of your learning is on the road and the truck driving school served no other purpose than just getting your CDL, learning the basics, and job placement.

I personally went through the Schneider training academy when I started driving and I can say it was a good school and that they probably over train their students. Schneider is known for having one of the best truck driving schools in the trucking industry but I have nothing to compare the experience with. I only went through truck driving school one time myself.
