Why You Should Always Keep a Batteryless Flashlight In Your Car

posted in Automotive |

One may think; “well it’s just a flashlight, why do I need to worry about what kind I have”. While that is true, knowing the difference between a regular flashlight and a batteryless flashlight can really make you see things under a different light (pun intended).

In this day and age, you can never be too prepared. In addition to a regular high-power flashlight, you should also have at least a couple of batteryless flashlights handy in your car. “Why?”; you ask? It never hurts to be ready for the unknown. Let’s say you’re driving down a dark, lonely road and, God forbid, your car breaks down. Your car’s lights will only do so much while you wait for help. You may need to check something in the hood or under the car, whatever the case may be, you will need light.

Now, say that you never had the need to use that fancy high-power battery flashlight that you’ve had in the trunk for the past two years? You go take the flashlight out from your trunk, only to find out that the batteries have had leakage and the thing will not turn on. Aside from causing you a whole lot of disappointment, this would create great difficulty in your efforts to get back on the road.

The advantage of having a batteryless flashlight available is obvious - you don’t need batteries. Taking the same situation into account, it doesn’t matter how long those flashlights have been in your trunk. All you would have to do is give the flashlight a good shake for about 30-60 seconds, and you would have nice, bright light for enough time to quickly fix something under your hood or change a tire.

As we can see, while it is a good idea to keep a regular battery powered flashlight handy in your car, it definitely does not hurt to have a couple of batteryless (also known as “shake flashlights”) flashlights available either. When the situation calls for it, they can prove to be really useful. These days batteryless flashlights are inexpensive, durable, and come in compact sizes.

So let’s make sure we take the time to equip ourselves for unforeseen circumstances and invest in some batteryless flashlights to keep around the house and in our cars.
